It is a tough start for the vineyards.
It is going to be another interesting year in Central Coast vineyards. Most vineyards have true leaves, but, Brrr! yesterday, it was as cold as 17 degrees in some inland valleys. The growers used wind machines or overhead sprinklers to protect the new growth from frost damage. My resident Pest Control Advisor reported 6 inch icicles hanging off the trellises in some vineyards yesterday morning. T
This week, we expect some rain. This should complicate disease protection. Not the best way to begin the season.
What is the answer? Drink more wine!
